Half-baked ideas • Re: Parallel universe fiction

I begin with some titles that really confused me (even if it doesn't translate well):

The Prestige: a story of the steamboat named HMS Prestige, from its construction to its destruction.
Serpico: documentary about how this orange-based beverage begun to conquer market shares.
Die Leiden des jungen Werthers : a story of how the headaches of a young boy became the motive for researching painkillers - involves experimenting several drugs.


Rage against the machine: a country concept-album about how industrialization killed the beauty of wilderness
Downfall: a rockumentary narrated by Mark E Smith enemies.
The Wave: Joseph is a blue collar worker from Liverpool who every week-end navigates between the pub, soccer games and a secret nightlife where he attends psychobilly gigs with lipstick on. A new coworker arrives that he already met during the concerts, which endangers his work and pub reputation as a manly man.
Wings of Desire: the ace pilot Solomon Hans risks his life everyday to make sure mail arrives in a south-american conflict zone, and smuggling little objects. He meets Estrella who makes him question his recklessness, but he has too many gambling debts and is forced to continue flying. Estrella is involved in the agrarian revolution movement against the government that employs Solomon and Solomon is forced to chose between helping the rebels, his job, his debts, his love.
Con Air: A 70's film with Steve McQueen and Robert Redford about crooks operating in planes.
My beautiful Laundrette: Laundra is twelve-years old girl from Haïti who has arrived in New York without her parents. She is placed in an orphanage where she meets Carlos and Darius who soon fight for her. They are forced to cooperate when they learn that Laundra is going to be deported.
