In my Runequest campaign the local authorities had kind of banned adventuring, and so walking through town in heavy armour and weapons with no reason was not easy to do.
Good way to make everyone roleplay a bit more, and have spare light armour and lesser weapons rather than everyone looking for whatever has the biggest average on the dice roll.
