"Main characters do everything" is something that I often find myself pointing out whenever I'm watching something like Star Wars or Star Trek. I think it is a lot more egregious in Star Trek since, in a more structured military like Starfleet compared to a rag-tag group of resistance fighters, you'd think they would be better at delegating responsibility. But no, it's pretty much always the guys at the top, and especially often the captain, who comes down to do things. It can often be explained by saying the captain is dedicated to the mission and refuses to send anyone in their place to risk their lives, but it gets to the point where you wonder what everyone else on this crew is doing.
