Now, for the strip itself, I could see this as an origin story for strips about an alternative Garfield who, being a clone of the original, looks exactly like him but has none of his behavior, and is such much nicer. (Kind of like Calvin and his clone that only had his good side.) And, remembering his origins as a flower, goes out of his way to avoid stomping on flowers.
